Ali Qoli Aqa Historic Bath in Isfahan city was made by an architect who used to be in touch with kings and Iranian politicians in Safavid era. The architect named Ali Qoli Aqa. Ali Qoli Aqa Historic Bath used to be a public path for women and men. It was open in two turns, first midday used to be dedicated for women and the second midday was dedicated to men. Of course, sometimes wealthy people rented the bath for special ceremony like wedding or their family. After restoring and adding some statues, Ali Qoli Aqa Historic Bath changed into an Anthropological Museum.

Architecture

The architectural method of Ali Qoli Aqa Historic Bath is related to Isfahani method which was common at the end of Safavid era. This bath consists of two parts of major and minor baths. The stunning decorations and paintings on the walls date back to different eras. For example, some paintings were added to the bath in Qajar dynasty. In addition to the bath, Ali Qoli Aqa complex includes more components like mosque, Bazaar, Charsooq, and Caravanserai.

Major bath

When you enter to the major bath through the entrance door, you have to walk into the corridor which ends to the cloakroom. The skylight with windows has made in the center of a dome in a way, so that the light can enter to the hall, but nobody can see inside the bath from the roof.

Warmhouse

Certainly, you will enjoy entering to the warm house of Ali Qoli Aqa Historic bath of Isfahan because of the Islamic paintings and flowers which are in a great harmony with each other. There is pool in the middle with two alcoves as king-seats at both sides.

Minor bath

There is a smaller bath with the same architect and square-shaped cloakroom beside. Eight stone columns have been bearing the weight of the ceiling. The ceiling here is in lower height rather than the major bath.

Water resource and water heating mechanism

There is point that you might find it interesting to know about the water resource and heating system. The water for both bathes obtained from a well names Gavchah. After passing through the roof, water led to the pool. The fuel tank and the container for heating the water were put to the west side of the bath.
