As we said in hot and humid climate page this region has high humidity and air temperature oscillation between day and night is low. In hot and humid climate, the traditional houses have been built in a way which main rooms are under the shade. In houses of this region, wide and tall balconies both have prevented rainfall from penetrating the rooms and made cool shade for main rooms. In districts near the sea, windcatchers were the architectural elements which conduct cool breezes inside the house.
Considerations of house builders
- Utilizing materials with low thermal capacity to build the house.
- Houses near the sea use bigger and taller windcatchers than the houses which are away from the sea.
- Because of high humidity and hot weather, air ventilation was not considered as an important item.
- Because of high humidity in the ground the houses were built on a void in order to prevent humidity penetration inside the house from the ground.
